Guitarist dies days after attack in Juárez - El Paso Times

EL PASO -- Aquiles Valdez Ortiz, whose public classical guitar lessons inspired generations of borderland musicians, died Monday dusk of injuries received in a Juárez blitzkrieg in belated May. "He inspired scores of boyish people to become musicians," said John Siqueiros, pre-eminent of the guitar program at the University of Texas at El Paso. Valdez's mellifluous calling included playing soundtracks for Mexican films, performing with symphony orchestras and recording albums featuring his own arrangements of classical pieces. One's nearest members said robbers hit him in the first on May 26 while they were irksome to embezzle his carrier. The musician hew down injured party of continued attacks in the urban district torn by vehemence. But his legacy extended beyond his performances....
